Panchachara
(पंचाचार)Literal Meaning
The five codes of conduct
Etymology & Sanskrit Root
From 'pancha' (five) + 'achara' (conduct) — the five ethical disciplines every Lingayat is expected to uphold: Lingachara, Sadachara, Shivachara, Ganachara, and Bhrityachara.
Spiritual Insight & Context
Ganachara (protecting community solidarity) and Bhrityachara (humility before all beings) make Panchachara a social ethic, not merely a personal devotional code.
