Did You Know?

The 12 Core Names

Verses 2 to 4 codify the 12 sacred canonical epithets of Ganesha (Vakratunda, Ekadanta, Krishna-Pingaksha, Gajavaktra, Lambodara, Vikata, Vighnarajendra, Dhumravarna, Bhalachandra, Vinayaka, Ganapati, Gajanana), representing the complete multidimensional spectrum of His protective powers.

Phala Shruti Timeline (Verse 7)

Verse 7 uniquely specifies a distinct spiritual timeline: persistent recitation shows initial positive fruits within six months ('shadbhir masaih phalam labhet'), and complete siddhi/manifestation within one full year ('samvatsarena siddhim').

Universal Fourfold Fruition (Verse 6)

Verse 6 systematically addresses the four universal human aspirations: students gain knowledge (Vidyarthi), seekers of prosperity gain wealth (Dhanarthi), couples gain progeny (Putrarthi), and spiritual seekers gain liberation (Moksharthi).

The sacred gift of knowledge (Verse 8)

Verse 8 describes writing out this hymn and offering it to eight Brahmins, and promises that all learning comes by Ganesha's grace. It shows the value of sharing scriptural wisdom freely.

Bhaktaavasa (Verse 1)

In the opening invocation, Ganesha is hailed as 'Bhaktaavasa'—the Lord who does not reside in distant unapproachable heavens, but makes His permanent dwelling right inside the hearts of His faithful devotees.
