The divine scribe and keeper of karmic records who sits beside Yama in Yamaloka, maintaining the register of every soul's deeds; revered as the progenitor deity of the Kayastha community, worshipped especially during Chitragupta Puja on Bhai Dooj (Yama Dwitiya).
