Sri Vyasatirtha, who is interred here, was the beloved Rajaguru of Emperor Krishnadevaraya and famously averted the catastrophic planetary 'Kuhu Yoga' omen that threatened the emperor's life.
The island lies in the heart of ancient Kishkindha, near Pampa Sarovar, where Lord Sri Rama met Shabari and forged his divine alliance with Sugriva and Hanuman.
All nine Brindavanas on the island are situated within a single sanctified boundary, making Nava Brindavanam a unique pilgrimage epicenter without parallel in Madhwa history.
Sri Sudheendra Tirtha, who entered Brindavana here, was the venerable Guru who initiated Sri Raghavendra Swamy (the miracle-working saint of Mantralayam) into Sannyasa.
