ಗಾಯತ್ರೀ ಮಂತ್ರ, ಋಗ್ವೇದ 3.62.10: ಸವಿತೃ, ಅಂದರೆ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ದಿವ್ಯ ತೇಜಸ್ಸಿಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ; ನಮ್ಮ ಬುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿ ಬೆಳಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೋರುವುದು.

ಆದಿತ್ಯ ಹೃದಯಂ: ರಾಮಾಯಣದ ಯುದ್ಧಕಾಂಡದಿಂದ ಬಂದ 31 ಶ್ಲೋಕಗಳು; ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಋಷಿ ಅಗಸ್ತ್ಯರು ಯುದ್ಧಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮನಿಗೆ ಸೂರ್ಯನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರವನ್ನು ಉಪದೇಶಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
