'किरत करो, नाम जपो, वंड छको' की पावन कर्मभूमि
रावी नदी के तट पर स्थित करतारपुर साहिब की स्थापना प्रथम पातशाह गुरु नानक देव जी ने सन् १५२२ में की थी। गुरु जी ने अपने जीवन के अंतिम १८ वर्ष यहाँ स्वयं हल चलाकर खेती की और 'नाम जपना, किरत करना (ईमानदारी से श्रम) और वंड छकना (बांट कर खाना)' का अमर सिद्धांत स्थापित किया।
आदर्श आध्यात्मिक कर्मयोग की स्थापना
चारों दिशाओं में चार लंबी उदासियों (यात्राओं) को पूर्ण करने के पश्चात गुरु नानक देव जी ने १५२२ ई. में रावी नदी के तट पर करतारपुर नगर की स्थापना की।
करतारपुर किसी सन्यासी का एकांत आश्रम नहीं था, बल्कि गृहस्थ जीवन, मेहनत और भक्ति का अनुपम संगम था। यहाँ गुरु जी ने स्वयं हल चलाया और यह सिद्ध किया कि गृहस्थ में रहकर भी सर्वोच्च परमात्मा को प्राप्त किया जा सकता है।

Scriptural Source
Guru Nanak's teaching on honest labor, "Ghaal Khaae Kichh Hathhon Dehi," is recorded on Ang 1245 of the Guru Granth Sahib, composed during the very years he farmed Kartarpur's fields.
Dual Funerary Memorials
When Guru Nanak passed away in 1539, his Hindu and Muslim followers both wished to perform funeral rites according to their customs; finding only flowers beneath his sheet, they divided the cloth, creating a Samadhi and a Mazaar side by side.
Succession of Guru Angad Dev Ji
At Kartarpur, Guru Nanak chose Bhai Lehna as his successor after testing his humility and devotion, bestowing upon him the name Guru Angad, part of my own body.
Historic Visa-Free Corridor
In November 2019, on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the Kartarpur Corridor was inaugurated, allowing Indian pilgrims visa-free access across the border.
