Background
This stotra is part of the Shakta tradition. The Sanskrit Documents text calls it a 'matrika pushpa', a flower-garland of letters for the Mother Goddess, and names no author. It honors Akhilandeshvari, the goddess worshipped at Thiruvanaikaval on the Kaveri. The composition follows an alphabetic pattern: its 52 main verses begin with successive letters from 'a' to 'ksha', and each ends with the refrain 'vande'khilandeshvari'.

Alphabetical structure
This stotra is a letter-by-letter garland. Its 52 main verses begin with successive letters of the Sanskrit alphabet, from 'a' in verse 1 to 'ksha' in verse 52. Each keeps meaning and meter under the strict constraint.
Attribution
The Sanskrit Documents text names no author, and its colophon gives none, so this page presents the stotra without attribution.
Goddess Akhilandeshvari
The stotra honors Akhilandeshvari, 'Mistress of all universes', a compassionate form of Parvati. Verse 5 speaks of her dwelling between the two branches of the Kaveri, and verse 17 of her home on the Kaveri bank, which fits her shrine at Thiruvanaikaval.
Tantric symbolism
The verses are rich with seed syllables. Verse 10 and verse 52 mention 'klim', verse 12 'aim' and verse 51 'ham', so the stotra serves as meditation as well as praise.
Concluding verses
Verse 52, the last of the letter verses, asks the Goddess, the daughter of the king of mountains, to forgive the poet's poor words. Verse 53 closes the hymn as an ornament for her lotus feet.
